Deep Tissue Massage

Just like Swedish massage, deep tissue massage can either be a full body massage or it can be focused on particular areas of the body. The massage is carried out directly on the skin using oil. For this massage you will be lying on the table in your underpants and covered with towels.

Deep tissue massage differs in intensity to relaxation massage and is carried out by applying pressure to certain areas in order to release tension and reduce pain and discomfort. Thus, some techniques may feel uncomfortable to some people.

Benefits:

  • Reduces muscle and joint pain and breaks up scar tissue

  • Improves flexibility

  • Reduces sensation of numbness or burning which can be felt in muscles and extremities

This massage is recommended for athletes and individuals who perform repetitive work which causes stress on joints or muscles. It can be particularly useful for chronic pain relief.

This massage is not recommended as a standalone treatment for children, or for elderly or sensitive clients. Some of the milder techniques may be used as part of a relaxation massage.
